I finished radiotherapy on the 19th July and I have now found another lump in the same breast I’ve just finished treatment for. I keep thinking surely it would have shown up on CT planning scan in JHeartne? I had lumpectomy on the 7th May and mri 10 days before and that only showed my 12mm lobular cancer. I’m so stressed sick with worry!! Rang hospital and they said they will send me an appointmentHeartand hopefully I will get seen in next 10 days. Has any one had this happen..? Sending hugs and support to everyone HeartHeartHeart

  • Hi , I'm so sorry you are stressing over this.  Once we've gone through cancer once we do become much more worried at the slightest thing.  If it was cancerous before radiotherapy then hopefully the RT has dealt with.  It could also just be a benign lump or the scarring and healing effects of the lumpectomy I am assuming you had.

I'm sure you will continue to be worried until the doctors investigate.  I really feel for you having to go through this worry so soon after going through this once already.

Praying that it turns out to be nothing sinister for you xx

I'm sure you've done the right thing by getting it seen.  Sometimes the waiting bit is worse than knowing and we're all thinking of you and hoping it's nothing serious.

When I went for my first hospital appointment, the consultant examined my breast and found a second lump which hadn't shown up before. I could feel it too. I had to wait for an ultrasound (and possible biopsy) and that was so stressful. But it turned out to be a benign fatty lump (lipoma) and nothing to worry about.

Hold onto the positives - it still might be nothing, or if it's something then you will have an opportunity to get it dealt with quickly by people who know your history. Wishing you all the best.

  • Thank you so much I’m drained from the last few months Heart

  • Please try not to worry too much!  You have done the right thing in contacting the hospital and arranging for an appointment to be checked.

this may be as a result of the radiotherapy which can leave long lasting effects. I completed my radiotherapy on 6th May and my lumpectomy was on 4th March. My breast and scar is still fairly sore and lumpy. My whole breast is swollen and settles into lumpy ridges, from my bra, etc.
my breast nurse said it looks like I have a bit of lymphodemia which should get better in time.I have also got an appointment with my surgeon next week as I never had my follow up appointment after the operation because she has been out of the country since, so hopefully that will put my mind at rest too.

please remember it can take the breast a long time to recover, but you are doing the right thing by being vigilant and getting it checked.  Good luck and think positive!

  • Thank you PrayHeart️Wishing all of you lovely people on here good health and positive outcomesHeart

  • Hi, try not to stress too much ,it's rea!my scary but  the radiotherapy makes your boobs lumpy as it does its magic! I radiotherapy a year  ago and  my boob has quite a few hard lumpy but in it now which are not cancer ., My scan was negative and my oncologist reassured me te radiotherapy causes scar tissue that feels lump. Can you phone your Breast cancer nurse for a bit of reassure, ??I

    Night night xx

  • Is it near your scar? I think the radiotherapy can make things even more hard and lumpy, though good you are getting checked out of course. It does seem very unlikely that a lump you can now feel did not sure up on your CT scan, so it sounds more like a fluid filled area or the tissue itself continuing to repair.

Everything is still hard and lumpy for me and I had my op in Feb and rads in April. My GP said the hardness may never go away and my local nurse said breast tissue does not like to be disturbed so takes a really long time to heal.
