Hi all

July 25th was diagnosis day.  Small tumour in my left breast.  Have had lumpectomy and SNR and results all ok.  No spread to lymph’s .   So now onto radiotherapy and Hormone therapy.  I have a call with radiotherapy dept this coming Wednesday- not sure what happens during that call or when treatment starts.  I’m reading about planning sessions and tattoos ?!?!!     Mentally I’m in a good place after a whirlwind of a month !

wishing all my fellow “warriors” the very best on each of your journeys

xx

  • Hi MissesCee, sorry to hear of your diagnosis but delighted you’ve no further spread and it’s been caught early. You’ve done the hardest part I can assure you. Yes you’ll have 3 little tattoos, one under each arm and one in the centre, like little freckles/moles! You have a CT scan and they measure the area to be treated and mark you so they can line up the radiotherapy machine. It doesn’t hurt, just little pin pricks. Radiotherapy itself is fine, you lie there for 10/15 mins and the machine does it’s thing! Moisturise the area well repeatedly, use aqueous cream, some use aveeno, some hospitals give you some cream, anything unscented, ph neutral. This is to prevent skin issues obviously. You may get sensitive skin, some little blisters, some small scabs towards the end of the treatment and week or so after but some don’t at all, I did but they weren’t sore oddly, sensitive but not painful, I do have small breasts though and some larger ladies find it a bit more uncomfortable but no more than that. You do also feel tired but not incapacitated tired, I drove myself, looked after my daughter and pretty much carried on as normal. I hope that helps reassure you, good luck! Xx
