Hello everyone.
My mum has been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, which is also in the nodes.
As you all know the weeks of waiting for these results are just absolutely HORRIFYING and petrifying. My mum went for a mamogramm and an ultrasound back in March, she had a lump in near her armpit, and was told it was due to her having the covid jab, ( she explained this lump was there before the jab) they sent her away and told her there was nothing to worry about.
She knew in her heart that something was wrong, but she didnt go back again because they made her feel so stupid and uncomfortable, which is just so sad.
Mum then found a lump in her breast around 6-8 weeks ago. They sent her for an MRI and a CT scan which we all prepared ourselves for the worst situation as we knew she had these issues going back from Feb/March. She has not had a bone scan though, have any of you guys only had a CT and an MRI? The breast surgeon has said the cancer is grade 3, in the nodes. But no spread.
We are now so scared that mum won't get the treatment quickly enough and it will spread further whilst waiting for treatment. How long after your MDT'S did you start the ball rolling? We are all just so scared and really hope that mums cancer will be treatable.
Hi Youhavegotthis
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that your Mum has breast cancer. My treatment started about a month after I was diagnosed and while I did have some cancer left in one of my nodes the wait for treatment didn’t led to spread of the cancer. After 8 cycles of chemo, then surgery and radiotherapy I am now in remission.
There is a family snd friends forum that you can join to get support from others in your situation. You will find it in the cancer experiences section of groups.
Wishing you snd your mother the best of luck in her cancer journey.
Best wishes

Hi, I can feel your anxiety and fear coming through in your post, it’s a truly horrible time for the whole family when the dreaded diagnosis is made and you don’t yet know what the next steps will be. I had CT and bone scan ( but not MRI ) all clear….had mastectomy 5 weeks ago… ( that was about 6 weeks after diagnosis) but now waiting for appointment with oncologist, which seems to be taking forever. The waiting for appointments or results is the hardest part, think you automatically assume every day you wait IT is spreading, which is not the case.
I'm sure once your mum has her treatment plan she and you will feel more at ease, does she have an appointment date yet?
Sending good wishes to you both x
