I had my CT planning scan two weeks ago and started my radiotherapy sessions this week. Have you been given any info/booklets on radiotherapy yet? I found reading as much as I could helped, gave me some preparation in advance. Everything about breast cancer is anxiety inducing. I found the radiotherapy staff great at putting me at ease and each session was over fairly quickly, the ‘getting into position’ takes longer than the actual therapy. My surgery was ten weeks ago, had an infection three weeks later which lasted another three weeks, my radiotherapy dates were probably delayed due to this. Will also be starting the endocrine treatment after radiotherapy. Not looking forward to five years of pill taking but not going to argue with the plan.

It’s ok, I sometimes used to lie there and think, this is surreal, if there was nothing happening I could believe it! The actual radiotherapy I found totally painless, I moisturised well and did get some dry skin and small scabs, I felt tired, but for me, compared to chemo, it was far far easier. I hope you have the same experience xx
