Off all the horrible side effects, its the incessant thirst, weariness and insomnia that's driving me demented, any tips to help me get though this stage?
Hi Sheba62,
Sorry to hear you’re having these SE. I found fatigue to be the worst but I’ve now completed my chemo so it is doable.
I used the Insight Timer sleep app to help me get over at night. I rested when tired but tried to go for a daily walk, or other exercise, if possible. I found it really helped.

Hi, I have just finished 6 cycles and had a variety of side effects, mostly mild and manageable albeit frustrating. I've been blogging and this one might help. best wishes
Sheba62, I’m so sorry that you are suffering so badly. My body reacted to every drug they put me in. I really feel for you. Have you tried ice lollies? I had my chemo over winter but munched my way through so many of them. I don’t know if you could stomach them? I found they hydrated me and distracted me for a while about how awful I felt. Also, I had swelling in my throat on the Docetaxel and the ice lollies reduced this to make me more comfortable. I would have a large bottle of water by my bed and sip it constantly even through the night. Unfortunately this meant that I went to the toilet through the night too but sipping away helped to keep the extreme dryness at bay.
I watched trashy tv on Netflix etc. I was too ill to take it in but I found it distracted me if I couldn’t get to sleep because of the steroids etc. It didn’t require any thought but took my mind off things and I found I fell asleep whilst watching them? Also, I was lucky enough to be off sick from work and have my husband at home to look after our three year old so I could sleep/rest when I needed to. I hope you are able to listen to your body and get the rest that it needs?
Warm hugs, Bekky xxx
Many thanks Bluebell Woods, I have let my exercise schedule slip (completely lapsed actually), will start walking again to see if it helps.
