I’m new to this group after having a mastectomy two weeks ago.  I’m due to have a picc line in before my first chemo session in July.  Would anyone have any suggestions on a picc line cover to use or should I avoid these?  Any suggestions would be very welcome, thank you.

  • Hi Nicky68

Welcome and sorry to hear that you’ very been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. When I had my PICC Line inserted the nurse who inserted it recommended a sleeve.  I got one and didn’t find it very good so I ended up using cling film to cover my PICC Line.

Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment.

  • Hi Nicky68

I had my picc put in yesterday. Got a sleeve from the nurse. It is a shiny material so slips down and annoys me a little. I’m going to see what others I can get from the Macmillan shop in my hospital.
I’ve also ordered the waterproof sleeve so I don’t get it wet in the shower.
I got my picc in for at least 5 months of chemo so need to make it look pretty lol. Even my mum said she’d knit me a sleeve, bless her.
    Good luck

  • Hi, my mum had her cover off the GP. It’s plastic but has elastic aged bits at top and bottom to keep it watertight when having a bath
