Hi everyone.

wasn’t sure where to turn to so I figured here was as good a place as any!

I found a lump in my breast around 11th June, feels very much like a small peppercorn, it’s just to the right of my nipple area.

I went straight to the GP and she has said she’s not convinced either way between a blocked milk duct or “something nasty” as she put it. I’ve been told to wait until after my next monthly cycle ends.

ive no other symptoms and no risk factors. The only thing I’m experiencing is extreme fatigue a little like when you’re newly pregnant. my girls are 10&9 so a long time since I breast fed though or was pregnant and I’m definitely not pregnant now!

it’s just a waiting game I guess but I’m feeling very nervous.
I have told my husband and a friend knows but I don’t want to talk to anyone else that I know incase it’s nothing as I don’t want them to worry, mainly my mum! But I just need someone to talk to whilst I wait to go back to the GP.

  • I now associate every symptom I’ve ever had over last 10 years to now being something fatal…..it’s a horrible thing not being able to think logically about anything going on in your own body!

Unfortunately there is no magic wand to stop your mind racing ( I’ve definitely checked ). Hopefully your children will provide some moments of distraction for you. x

They certainly do keep me busy. I’ve been relatively distracted and not loosing my mind over it but it’s definitely not eliminated. The lump is still very much there and hasn’t gone which I would have thought a block milk duct would have resolved by now.

ive called the GP again today and unfortunately the one I saw is off and will be for the rest of this and next week so they are getting the duty doctor to call me back after 2 and I should get my referral done today. X

  • Fingers crossed, at least that will give you a date to aim for x

Yes it will! My husband is hoping it’s when he gets back from out of area so he can come with which is at the end of next week so hopefully it will be the week after next. I’m sure they’re very busy with referrals so won’t see me straight away. If he misses it though, it’s not the place you get diagnosed anyway is it? Am I right in thinking it’s just we’re they examine you and take biopsies if needed? The results (it needed at all) will come in a separate appointment? X

  • It’s usually the ‘one stop shop’……mammogram, scan if needed and biopsies if needed, then appointment back if necessary to get full picture of all results. xx

So my lump is still there and I’m getting a little discomfort in the breast itself but I’m wondering if that’s where I’ve been poking it for the last few days.

my referral came through and it’s 14th July. My husband can’t come with me (or at least inside) due to covid restrictions. But the lady did say that because it’s slightly over the 2 week wait they would do absolute everything needed on the day (if necessary).

im undoubtedly nervous but it’s just a waiting game. It will also take me past my next period as well so if the lumps still there then that will rule out menstrual breast changes.

im at my mums at the moment and I’ve still not plucked up the courage to tell her. I don’t want her to worry especially if it turns out to be nothing.

We’re off to visit my husband tomorrow and stay the night in a hotel by the beach so that should be a fun distraction and works kept me pretty busy this week. Then one week of work left and he’s home. X

Make another appointment with another gp tell them you're worried and ask for referral.

  • I understand why you haven’t said anything to your mum yet, as you don’t want to worry her unnecessarily, I felt I only wanted to tell family on a ‘need to know basis’….but, even if you do mention it I’m sure she’ll be totally supportive while you wait for your appointment.

Glad to hear you have some distraction this weekend, hope the weather allows for some fun beach time for you all xx

    Hi 2020patient.
move got the referral, my appointment is 14th July so a couple of weeks from now. Not too long to wait. I’m hoping in that time the lump will have disappeared!

    Hi Mrspolly,

our weekend was lovely thanks. We’ve had such a nice time all together walking round the beaches and playing in the arcades. My husband was pleased to have us there to break up his workings week and I was great full for a cuddle during this hard waiting time. One week left and he’s home and then it will only be a week until my appointment.

my husband wanted to come but they’ve said he can’t come in, I think he’ll drop me off and pick me up if he cant come in and it takes ages
