Hi there

, I'm interested in hearing from anyone else struggling with post treatment fatigue . 18months on from  chemo, lumpectomy, radiation and a year of Herceptin I'm finding the fatigue worsening rather than improving .  Dragging myself through each day is beginning to get me down as I'd really expected to have some return to normal energy levels by now .  Literally by around 4pm each day I feel like a clockwork toy needing rewound and cannot function . Naps do not help beyond allowing some respite from various aches and pains that show up randomly around the body. I've had checks done on most of the possible causes but nothing showing up .  No leprazole or that type of medication involved .  Thanks

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

Struggling with fatigue post treatment must be horrible but not something I can share any experience with. However, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet and this is probably because this is such an active group that your post has fallen off the first page before someone with the right experience has seen it. By replying to you it will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list.

If you haven't done this already you could have a look through previous posts on fatigue. Typing 'fatigue' into the search bar at the top of the page will bring up posts which mention this and you could have a read through some of them and respond to any of the more recent posters if you think they may be able to help you further.

While you're waiting for replies it would be great if you could pop something about your journey with cancer into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Longbowlady

I'm only 3 months post treatment (Immunotherapy), terrible fatigue that i don't feel is taken seriously, even by professionals. I've just been deemed unfit to do my job so that's another worry. Like you i feel it has worsened, looked at so many forums, youtube, google, etc for advice.

My concern is it'll never go away, no help i'm afraid but you're not alone.

I know what you mean about it not being taken seriously , I've been made to feel uncomfortable about bringing it up at various reviews and appts and being told " well what do you expect " or " just give it time" is far from helpful when even holding a phone conversation some days is an effort . Perhaps time may well be the answer but patience was never my strong point and family , work and life  in general won't mark time while waiting . Here's hoping that we both feel a bit livelier soon Blush
