Hi I am 55 single mother of two kids (aged 11 and 12) diagnosed in March with HER2+ including lymph node involvement started with chemo heading for mastectomy and radiotherapy. Have hit a massive low am on second cycle of chemo and feel dreadful - know I have to get through a week before start feeling better but goodness I can’t see or feel it when I feel this rough. Sick to my bones.
Any help advice warm words anything would be appreciated.
Hi,
you will get through this, admittedly it’s not easy at times but it will pass. I am now on cycle 5, had three EC and 8 days after 2nd Docetaxel. Hopefully my last session will be on the 21st May.
What type of antisickness do you have? Take them as adviced I left too much of a gap the first couple of times but soon learned my lesson! If you are still feeling sick ring your team, mine are fab and there 24/ 7 for advice. Metaclopramiide seems to be the starting point but there are others out there if they are not working.
I also found that just sipping on lemonade helped keep the nausea at bay, hope you start to feel better soon,
Take care and remember you will get through this.

I have just competed my chemo , once you know what to expect strangely I found the side effects were manageable I was nervous on my first one and suffered greatly with side effect my second chemo session I wasn’t nervous I was in control and those side effects didn’t happen I managed to live a normal life (worked full time/ rode my horse and walked for miles) I just rested when I needed to .
you can do it , my tip is deal with what you are having done at the time so chemo now worry about surgery at the time
reach out to friends they can help and want to help
Oh bless you. I'd suggest to talk to your nurse or call the cancer helpline to see if you can change the anti sickness meds as I have learnt that different ones work better for different people. And whilst it's hard, finding a little energy for a short walk might help. Hope you have good support network around you.
PS, I had cycle 3 on Thursday ahead of surgery in summer and then radiotherapy, sounds similar to you.
