Hi, everyone,

I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago, should have had surgery 25th May. Got a call Thursday, "can you do next Tuesday instead?"  Terrified! I am having a Mastectomy but now i am worried as i woke up this morning with a cold sore, probably stress related. Now even more stressed out that it will affect my op.

Has anyone else had this experience. X

  • Hi Kdramalover, I haven’t had that experience, I have surgery in June, and I know you have only been diagnosed 2 weeks ago, and the stress of that is enough, if I were you I would take Tuesday, the sooner the better and you can start your road to recovery, get some cold sore treatment, it’s usually works quite quickly ... wishing you all the best x

Thank you Crawler, everything is moving so fast which is good as there is not too much time to dwell. I have had the pre admissions and covid test today. I have the isotope injection on Monday, which I have been told could turn me into a bit of an Alien. I will have the surgery if I can, just worried it might get put off.

  • Go for it I had mastectomy 8 days after diagnosis  final decision made on Tuesday op on Thursday Joy

Can laugh now was a whirlwind at the time . Just get some cold sore cream . The op is not as bad imagination tells you

    more discomfort than pain .

    Hello

Thank you so much Heartpulsefor your support. I was worried about the cold sores. Not sure what the protocols are due to the anaesthesia masks and so on. I now have 2, probably getting more stressed. How are you now? Are you well?

Feel free to ask any questions .

Have a browse around the threads lots of info and support also places like Awake which is full of chat as well as loads  of support . Read profiles nobody minds it helps you to see the success stories

Hi there - I haven’t experienced cold sores but I defo get stressed! I doubt they’ll hamper your surgery but you could call your nurse just to check. All the oxygen masks etc are single use anyway. I didn’t get asked about cold sores pre op so wasn’t something I was aware of. I experienced a mastectomy just over 8 weeks ago. Journey so far is on my profile. Please don’t be terrified, easier said than done I know, I was more terrified of not getting surgery and couldn’t wait for my op. I was relieved when the day came. I hope everything goes well for you and your final pathology is favourable x x x.

Thank you. I'm having a mastectomy and sentinel lymph nodes biopsy. Everyone around me keep saying that it is good that it is happening so quickly. I was first referred on the 17th March so it has been less than two months. I am very grateful to be treated so quickly as waiting for many cancer treatments at this moment in time is so difficult for many other people.

I think I a little scared that something will occur to delay things. How are you? I hope you are well x
