Hi

I just joined tonight. I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer last September. I had two Tumour, one in my left breast and one under my arm which was only discovered when I had a Scan. As I was single and living alone with a dog I decided to move in with my parents while I was undergoing treatment. I had 8 sessions of Chemo 4 of AC and 4 of Taxol. I had my last Chemo session in February of this year. I had a repeat Mammogram and Scan after I had finished my Treatment. They found that the Tumour in my left Breast had grown smaller and the one under my arm had disappeared.  I had an operation at the end of March to remove the remaining Tumour and also two lymph nodes. Two weeks after the operation I had a meeting with my Breast Surgeon and he told me that the margins in my Breast were clear but that there was some Cancer left in one of the lymph nodes that he took, so my oncologist sent me for a CT Scan and a Bone Scan to see if the Cancer had spread. A week later I found out that it hadn’t spread.

I had a meeting with my my oncologist three weeks ago and she told me that she was putting me on a further course of Chemo to hopefully prevent the Cancer from returning in the future except this time she was putting me on a course of Chemo tablets, two weeks on and one week off. I’ll be starting the tablets tomorrow and will be on them for about six months.

Apart from a couple of stints in hospital due to a suspected blood clot and the odd bit of fatigue I didn’t have too many side effects. I did lose my hair, eyebrows, eyelashes and I have neuropathy in my fingers and toes.

I will also be having Radiotherapy Treatment which starts next Wednesday.  I’ll be having 20 sessions five days a week.

I live in a small town in Ireland called Tramore which is in County Waterford.  My parents live in Waterford City where I am while undergoing treatment.
