Hi all
I'm a mother to 5 and been diagnosed with stage 2 high grade duct cancer which has also spread to lymph nodes
Just went head to head with my first round of chemo and must say I wasn't expecting this! Tiredness, sickness and fuzzy head. Constantly feel like I'm not really in room if you know what I mean, is this normal?
I have seen other posts of it not effecting their lives and every day living but I must say it's doing a grand job with mine. It's making me feel like poop to be honest and I literally have not moved for 3 days.
I forgot to mention, I'm on FecT and Herceptin after round 4, yay, not!!!!!
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, I cannot go on feeling like this much longer, do you ever get back to feeling like you in-between cycles has anyone chosen not to do chemo and go down a different route,?
Hi mamajd,
Sorry to hear it's making you feel rubbish.
I am a mum of 4.
I will be starting chemo next Thursday, and am dreading feeling crap.
Hi mamajd I also start chemo (Friday) and dreading the side effects - trying to keep positive and take it as it happens. All we can do is take one step forward at a time, one day at a time. Hope your feeling better soon - 1 session done now for you xx
Good luck for next week. I hope it goes well for you.
Yes, at least one is down and out the way, hoping my situation improves as the days roll on.
Good luck to you and keep us updated
Hi Mamajd
Sorry to hear that you are feeling rotten after your first round of Chemo. Did your Cancer nurses give you a prescription for something to help with any side effects that you have? Chemo effects cancer patients differently so it wouldn’t be unusual to feel unwell after a chemo session.
Talk to your oncologist or your Onology nurse about how you are feeling and they will adjust your Chemo or medication so that you don’t feel sick after your Chemo in future.
Hope this helps and best of luck with the rest of your treatment.
Thank you, I will speak with my nurse this week and was given medication. But I really feel quite rough and not with it, I suppose I have been a little nieve with it all. Although I now have lovely aches and pains this morning, I did make own breakfast which I couldn't do yesterday so that's a positive. Fingers crossed things will keep improving
Hi, so sorry you are feeling like this. I found my oncologist was really keen to adjust the dose and give me meds to manage so perhaps you can talk to them. I also called the cancer nurse st our helpline a number of times in cycle 1 to check on my side effects and they gave me some extra meds to manage. In particular they changed my anti sickness meds as one set made me feel completely out of it, that really helped me! Best wishes
Thank you, spoke with the out of hours yesterday as I was aching all over , I will definitely be speaking with the nurse on Monday, I didn't even think about the other meds causing me a problem, I just put it down to the chemo.
