Hello All

i has my pic line put in yesterday and start chemo tomorrow, I am feel very overwhelmed... x

  • Hi Rackers, it is an overwhelming feeling to start chemo, it’s the unknown to us, something we never think we will have to face, just take one day at a time, make sure you use your mouthwash and toothpaste, oral hygiene is so important, have Bonjela at home incase an ulcer starts to appear.

Take your anti sickness as instructed to, and rest, try not to resist resting, it’s important to let your body rest and fight, I’m coming up to my last chemo session, the time has gone quick, though I know at the time it can seem never ending, just do as the chemo nurses say, you will get there x

Thank you, I can not wait to be in your position looking at the end of the chemo. I am going to count them down and tick them off as done.

One day at a time. Heart

I know just how you feel. It is unbelievably overwhelming.

You can do this. I thought I wasn’t going to be able to do it. But I have had 4 chemos now. It will be ok. Surprisingly, the time has gone quickly. Soon, it will be behind you.

Crawler is right. Use your mouth meds. And don’t feel guilty about resting. If you feel like resting, do it.

You’ve got this. Big hugs to you. xx

That was something that I found so helpful about this site. People understand because they have been there. At first I was nervous about posting here. But I’m glad that I did. I’m glad that you found this site early on in your treatment.

    • I understand that the start of Chemo is hard as it's the unknown & can seem a long road ahead. The Chemo Nurses are lovely & will do everything they can to get you through it. I'm coming up to my fifth one (out of a total of 6) & thought I'd never get through it & with the 3 weeks in between, but you will get there. Agree with Crawler & A Squared, take your meds & use the mouthwash religiously. Listen to your body & rest lots. This site is great as there is always someone to ask & you don't feel on your own. Wishing you lots of luck with your treatment xx

Rea T sounds like a great plan, I have 16 chemos to get through in total.

looking forward to getting the pic line out already.

    when do you start?

  • Rea T, Rackers, there is a chemo thread, think it’s called April/May Chemo, it will change to June Chemo when we get into June, lots of us on there who are going through treatment, lots of info and tips, everyone going through the same thing, you will,be made very welcome on there x
