hello,

im after some advice

i was diagnosed which breast cancer (IDC) in sept 2015, I had 6 rounds of chemo and double mastectomy, no rads.

over the past 2 days by breast has been crazy itchy, it’s constant! But because I have no actual feeling in my breast I can’t seem to scratch it (hope that makes sense!) I have been scratching my breast all day to the point where it’s bright red!

because I was diagnosed when I was 29, no family history and negative for BRCA1 & 2. I panic over any little change! I read about inflammatory breast cancer and know that it’s associated with severe itching. Do you think it’s something to be worried about? What were your symptoms?

if it’s still itching by Tuesday I will book a drs appointment but just wondered if anyone can shine any light?

sorry for rambling!

thank you x

  • Hi there,

I've just looked at your profile and see that you had immediate reconstruction. If it was with implants could that be the issue? Definately get it checked out next week.. I don't know if you were discharged after 5 years,  but if not the breast clinic might be a quicker route than 2 week referral.  Fingers crossed it's nothing! Xxx

  • Agree with get it checked out for peace of mind but meanwhile try an antihistamine tablet.  I used to get severe itching when younger & hay fever season.  I didn't realise that the body  itching was connected!  I would get it intense in top of arms and chest and the scratching would produced large white wheals!  They never appeared when I saw GP though.
