Hi, Im new to the forum. I was diagnosed in December with Breast Cancer for the 2nd time. The first time was in 1992 when i was 26. This time I had a Mastectomy with reconstruction as I couldnt have radiotherapy on the same breast. I also had a reduction on my other breast.
Everything has gone to plan and ive healed really well. I cant stop worrying about has it all gone , which I have been assured it has. Other people I know have been put on anastrozole and bisphosphonates. I know Im extemely lucky that I dont need Chemo or medication, but Im struggling emotionally about it all. Is this normal?
Hi Shad welcome to the forum and the simple answer to your question is yes it is perfectly normal and is a recognised part of finishing treatment.
If you think about it you have had the shock of diagnosis, then you get your head down and get on with whatever treatment you may need and you are surrounded by people all the time. Then the treatment finishes and you are considered "well" and off you go, no people around, no one to ask any questions, no one to ask is this ok or not? Thats the scarey part but is quite normal and you will get there but it will take time and believe me when I say to you that a part of you will be forever changed as result of this journey.
I cant find my link I had to an article written by a psychologist called Dr Peterr Harvey entitled "After the Treatment finishes: what next". Its worth looking it up on the internet and downloading this as this will explain exaclty what you are feeling and why.
Let us know what you think and do keep in touch, things will improve but they will take time so don't push too hard on yourself.

Here's a link to the article mentioned.
You'll maybe just get a blank web page but the article should download automatically for you. If that doesn't work, I do have a copy of it in pdf which I'm happy to post on here, but not sure how to. MaybeI can send to you via PM but not sure if I can do that either ;)
Hopefully, this link will work for you. Failing that, just put in the author and title into Google ...
Good luck
