Hi found out i have breast cancer this morning. Will know more on wed about type of cancer i have etc. Just wondering how people best deal with the anxiety and in ability to sleep!!

  • We are most definitely your people ! I take my husband to appts which involve say the Breast Surgeon, so I can remember some and he can remember some. I go on my own to say Radiology ones as there is a sign up requesting that. We caused havoc last time because he had been bitten that same morning by a dog. He was delivering election leaflets and there was a silent dog behind the letter box - you would think it would have growled, but no. I find such a lot of technical info is fired at you and where I live (Herts) there are Breast Cancer Nurses who can explain in a phone call anything you can't understand or haven't managed to pick up. They're all very good and very kind.

  • Hi Baroness L welcome. Sarah

  • Yes, I was at Thirlestaine last week.

But the lovely nurse wasn't sure if oncology allowed another person into the appointment. Then I forgot to ask when they phoned this morning.

Nice to meet someone else local.

  • I had my first chemo today.

Just got into bed as I feel drained.

My OH came with me to all appointments that haven't had any procedures.

So my appointment with the surgeon at Thirlstaine, oncologist at Gloucester and Oncology Nurse Practitioner in Cheltenham. Any time they are giving you information I think is OK.

He was even allowed up to the Chemo ward at the end of my session today, but that was just so they could give him instructions on an injection he's doing for me.

I am literally just a couple of weeks ahead of you. I was only diagnosed on April 1st (no fool)

Do you live in Cheltenham? I'm in Cirencester x

Sarah.... Keep looking forward Two heartsCherry blossom

Hey you lovely ladies, I’m a bit ahead of you all in terms of treatment but i just wanted to reassure you all as best I can! It can be shit at times but I think the biggest thing is to not lose your sense of humour! So on that note here’s a pic of me with my new wig!! I wore it for my zoom call with my residents the other day. It’s so hard to be positive with what we are going through but laughter helps!!!

  • Love this....I've also been contemplating a fun one for a call with my team, you've persuaded me to do it Grinning

  • Oh that's just crap, sorry, no other word for it. Well, plenty of words but I'm being marginally polite.  I hope the bloods sort themselves out. I was asking my oncologist if there is anything I can do (eat etc) to help with bloods but she said not....frustrating xx
