I was first diagnosed with grade 3 aggressive breast cancer end of Feb 2019. 2 surgeries, lumpectomy and reconstruction followed by total lymph removal and 2 further hospital admissions( neutropenic sepsis from chemo + admission to burns as a result of radio) later I have still been suffering from post radiation therapy in my left breast, a bright red rash which took six weeks using Dermagel ( supplied by radiotherapy)and taking antibiotics to clear up. Apparently all check up mammograms ( due last month March) are delayed in our area. I had the Onco test apparently I'm high risk and need chemo but after the neutropenic sepsis it was suggested more chemo might kill me. So here I am in limbo still suffering, still wearing a very uncomfortable lymph stocking and need to lose weight urgently( for my imminent knee replacement therapy). Any ideas from other members would be most welcome.
Sorry you still struggling. I struggled with my weight but for last t years I e managed to maintain a reasonable overweight level - 12 stone 10. My target is always to be under 13 stone. I have been 12 stone but that was on severely restricted diet. I am type 2 diabetic so watch my carbs and reduced carbs stops me putting in weight. Type 2 diabetic can struggle with weight because of insulin resistance so I test my BG to try to work out foods that don't raise it too sharply. I aim to be u Dee 50g carbs a day. I have 2 slices low carb bread toasted with butter for breakfast . Lunch & dinner varies. My biggest issue is I don't eat meat and I've gone off cheese - influence of living with 2 vegans. I make soups like broccoli soup which I enjoy. Because I have a meter I know I can eat a jacket potato with little impact on my BG. Can't eat chips regularly. Pasta & rice in small amounts. Sauces though are fine like chilli with veggie mince, curry with fake chicken. Veggie burger with only 1/2 the bun! Adopting these changes I've lost 2 stone and maintained! So try reducing carbs - I ate carb heavy meals and increase protein & good fats .
Late mammogram-mine got later every year till year 5 almost 6 months late . I'm now back to 3 yearly but I'm scared it's too long .
