Hello, I am new to this site. I was diagnosed 5 weeks ago with grade 2 invasive cancer plus high grade DCIS. I am waiting for test results on my lymph glands and the HER test.My doctor told me that normally they would be operating first, then putting me on tablets then having radiotherapy but because of the Covid they have delays in operating and I would have to go on Letrozole straight away and wait for the operation. Obviously I am worried about the delay but would like to ask other people how they have been on the Letrozole tablets. I find that I am fine for long periods but then become very tired, have aching joints followed by suddenly becoming really tearful. Is this normal. I also can still not really believe I actually have cancer.
I think you will be very pleased with your therapeutic mammoplasty. I had this on one and mastectomy and implant the other. I have had no trouble whatsoever with the therapeutic mammoplasty. Risk before the op, being a more mature lady, was that surgeon might not have been able to keep the nipple attached because of possibility of blood vessels/supply not being possible to achieve, but she was delighted that she did achieve this. I did not know at the time, but the cancer there was fast growing. I did not know what a mammoplasty was before either. Breast Cancer Nurse explained to me, because I was shocked to receive the news from Surgeon that a mastectomy was essential on the other breast. Never slept that night, as so worried about the future. Feeling now is that they did a very good job on me, even though they had to re-do the implant due to haematoma. It does take some weeks to do all the investigations necessary. I have to be on Letrozole for the next 7 years and have to have radiotherapy on the therapeutic mammoplasty side which I have not got as far as yet.
Yh I have spoken to quite a few ladies who advised they had good results from a theraputic mammoplasty. Was relieved my mri showed no more abnormalities and I presume, that means my lymph nodes as well. They are still taking some sentinel nodes xx
