Hi everyone I am 59 years old as of Wednesday was diagnosed middle of September with lobular invasive 60mm grade 2 ER+estrogen receptive positive. On the 4th December I had a mastectomy with immediate reconstruction latissimus dorsi breast reconstruction was in hospital for 1 Day was really worried about the drain but once I was showed how to drain and empty the drain it was really easy to do but must admit was glad when it came out a week later. My wounds have healed really well only took pain killers for the first 2 weeks but I do the excercises every day and can use my arm to do anything now. My back is still quite numb it will just take time to thaw out as I call it. My new boob is the envy of any 18 year old but the other one well that’s another matter. My journey now has been a lot of waiting about I entered into the Optima trial but unfortunately I have to have 6 rounds chemo which I had my first round on 12th February (Red Devil) feeling well but I am under no illusion that they will all be the same. I have chemo every 3 weeks. I hadn’t felt a lump but just above the nipple my boob was indented but it wasn’t all the time it would come and go but so glad I went and got it checked. It’s scary and finding it difficult to sleep at night but I’m determined to come out the other side I’ve got a new grandson due in April and hopefully will be able to give him a cuddle. Take care everyone this is a great forum with lots of help.
Hello!
I have the exact same breast cancer but Im stage 3 and its also in lymph nodes. Surgeon says its "too tricky" to operate so am having drugs to shrink, then chemo, then Mastectomy ..I don't want to know what comes after.
My boobs are very large and I'm worried about the different shape and size..did you have this? I would be grateful if you shared your experience with me as I'm completely unaware of what is involved in cancer treatment and too frightened to ask most of the time. Your experience. as help.
Thanks for listening,
Cupboardlove xx
Hi
i didn’t need chemo before my op the mastectomy and reconstruction was actually better than I expected I was not in a lot of pain and the painkillers took any pain away that I had the drain was more an inconvenience more than anything you had to carry it everywhere and sleeping on my back was hard but once the drain was out it was much easier. I am in no pain now my wounds have healed and I’m feeling ok. I have large boobs too but my new one is a lot smaller than my other boob So I’m a bit lopsided it doesn’t bother me .Sometime in the future I will have a reduction on my other boob so they match. I had chemo last friday and feel ok. Cupboardlove don’t be frightened to ask questions your BC nurse is there for you. Please ask any other questions that you have I will answer then as honestly as I can
take care Xx
