Second cycle chemo not going well

Hi everyone,

Just joined and looking some advice. I was diagnosed with male  breast cancer just before Christmas and have had a mastectomy to remove the breast tissue. Thankfully,  it had not spread to my lymph nodes but was graded at grade 3.  Following discussion I began chemo on 19th January. (Adriamycin/doxorubicin and cyclosphamide)

The first cycle wasn't too bad and I found I was feeling better just under a week later. However, this second cycle has been rough. I got it on February 9th and still feel it. I'm finding the hazy/woozy feeling the most difficult. Is this normal?

My concern is that I'm due to have my third cycle in just over a week and I'm worried if still feeling the same that I'm really going to struggle.

I will discuss with my care team when I meet them but was looking some advice before then.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read that your second cycle of chemotherapy has been rough.

I can see that you've also posted this in the ask a nurse section of the online community and wondered if you'd seen the reply 6 hours ago in which the nurse recommends, amongst other things, that you contact your team to discuss this "woozy" feeling. If you haven't seen the reply clicking here will take you straight to it.

    Hi,

Yes thanks, I saw it. I'm having few issues with my browser and wouldn't let me reply to it. I had phoned my care team last week due to prolonged dizzy spell and will definitely discuss further with them. I was hoping that the hazy feeling would have passed by now and was looking to see if this was normal.

    Thanks for reply.

  • I'm glad to hear you've contacted your team and also seen the reply from the nurse on the community. I didn't want you to have missed their reply as it sounded important to contact your team.

    All the best x
