Hi,

I was diagnosed with Grade 3, triple negative invasive breast cancer at the start of January. I had my first Chemo on the 1st Feb ( docetaxel and Cyclophosphamide).

I had a reaction to docetaxel, felt light headed so they gave me antihistamines and steriods and was fine again after 30 mins. I then was given Cyclophosphamide and was fine until later in the evening when I started to get a tight chest and breathlessness....so off to A&E I go! Few more antihistamines and it all settled again.

Two weeks on and I've been fine and I've even gone back to work (working from home on a computer).

However the last few days the fatigue and brain fog has hit me. I do suffer with Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue anyway so I am used to it but I'm wondering how other people have felt 2 weeks after treatment?

I've also notice my scalp is a little tender and my hair is starting to come out. I have shaved my head in preparation, so I'm not bother by losing it, just still a bit of a shock now its started.

Oh, I also had the covid vaccine last Thursday which again ended up in a trip to A&E as my temperature went up over 38°!

It's certainly been an eventful few weeks for me!

Cheers

Good for you! Just another thought, not sure of your employment status, but is it at all possible for you to take some time off work?  I know that when my surgeon gave me a sick note for 3 months in November, i was like "I won't need this long will I?"  She said that we could reduce it if need be.  Needless to say I haven't returned to work and I have requested a further 5 weeks off to cover my radiotherapy treatment with a couple of weeks at the end to get over any side effects.  I must say, I have been really grateful to my employers for being so understanding and having a good sick pay policy.   In the beginning I was on the phone daily to my manager, supporting them with any issues  etc., but I have taken a massive step back and solely concentrated on me, my family and recovery.  When I feel ready I will return to work and throw myself into that.

Have a restful weekend, and very best wishes for your ongoing recovery.

Hi Sheila, thanks for your message. Yeah I do work full time but my employer is very flexible on me taking as much time off as I need. I'm just worried I'd be bored!!

I'm taking a week off after each chemo treatment and then as and when I need it. I will just see how I feel. I might ask for part time hours if I feeling tired.

Just fed up of covid now and not seeing family and friends.
