I was diagnosed with breast cancer around a year ago, feel very fortunate as didn’t have chemo just a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy (all ok).my consultant started me on letrozole before I had surgery due to the fact that the corona virus pandemic was just starting and my original surgery date was cancelled, I was however fortunate enough to have surgery in May.

The last couple of months I have been experiencing terrible pain in my feet left side more that right yesterday I went on a walk not that far couple of miles probably when I got home I cried where I was in so much pain, I’m not the sort of person to make a fuss I take most things on the chin, people who know me were amazed by the mater of fact way I went through my cancer and treatment came home after surgery and cooked tea for the family . I was just wondering if anyone else suffers such pain is it the letrozole or is it something else, I’m fast approaching 60 and carry a few too many pounds but have always been reasonable fit and walk for miles.

  • Hi, I believe there is another thread for Letrozole, so it might be useful to have a look at that if you can....I have been on Letrozole for a year now. I am 74yrs....I had chemo, surgery and radiotherapy and when all that was finished i started taking Letrozole around January last year. I know from reading from others on a thread that the side effects with Letrozole can cause a lot of aches and pains. Reading some of the effects some have suffered I count myself lucky really.  I do get various aches and pains that can vary and have a day here and there when I feel quite tired. I do occasionally get what they seem to call a trigger thumb, where it locks on, but I find that if i massage it it will free up. This is apparently a common side effect with the Letrozole...It is always worth having a word with one of the breast nurses if your aches and pains get worse or persist....Hope you get sorted.....

  • Hi@ Bertie60, l’ m just wondering if you have changed make of Letrozole recently?  Some ladies have found that it can make a difference although the main ingredient is the same but the carriers are different. I did have foot pain with one make- Cipla. But fortunately I’ve only had that make once since I went back on them in July after my RT. Could be worth making a note of the make to see if it is the same for you. There is a Letrozole thread on here . If it continues do get in touch with your BCN for further advice. When I had a different make the foot pain went away!! xx Kwissy
