I would just like to introduce myself.
In November I went for my scheduled mammogram, called back in December and diagnosed with breast cancer.
Left breast, ductal cancer. Grade 2. 5mm lump.
Ostrogen and progesterone both positive. HER2 negative.
I had a wide local excision and sentinel node biopsy at the end of December. This was as a day case, in at 7am home for 3pm.
Went for the results on 8th January to be told that the lump was 15mm. They had removed 2 lymph nodes. And that I need another operation to scrape any remaining pre cancerous cells. They are also removing more of my lymph nodes. Depending on the results I'm more than likely going to have chemotherapy, followed by radiotherapy.
Not had too much pain considering.
My next operation is on Tuesday 26th January so not too long to wait. This is not at my original hospital but at a private hospital about an hour's drive away. That's because during lockdown they have moved all cancer operations to this place.
Good luck with everyone in your treatment.

Hi , Welcome to the group you never wanted to join . Sorry to hear that you have to return for a further operation and then wait again for results- the waiting really is horrid. But you have come to the right place and will get a lot of support on here from those who have been there and bought the t shirt. The journey isn't always straight forward but these days the treatments are very successful. Please don't go onto Dr Google , he is often out of date or just plain wrong. Instead take advice on here or from the excelent Macmillan nurses. If you want to lift your spirits take a look on the Awake thread under the Chat heading. Sorry not good with the tech so can't do a link! There you will find a great crowd and as well as support and hints from those who know you will probably raise a smile or even laughter (yes, really!) No need to be invited just jump in and introduce yourself. Sending hugs to you. xx
Hi
Another warm welcome to the online community from me.
It's all very daunting, isn't it, but please be assured, if you do need any more treatment - it's all very do-able. Not anything we'd give a five star review for, but most of the time not as bad as we fear.
good to hear you've not had too much pain.
We are a very large and friendly group here, join in wherever and whenever you feel comfortable. We have some long-running threads but you can also feel free to start your own discussion about anything. Don't worry too much about the different sections - we'll find it wherever.
Hopefully you are finding your way around the site well but if you need a hand with anything, just give us a shout - you can always tag someone by typing @ directly in front of their name (like I've done with you) - you'll get a pop up with their name on and if you click on it, they are tagged and will get a notification.
Look forward to seeing you around and we'll be thinking of you on Tuesday - let us know how you get on.

ronstar thank you for your lovely message.
I've been reading a lot of the threads and feel out of my depth. Even though my nurse and doctor have given me plenty of information, it seems to be going over my head.
I don't know what to ask them, so I'm just going with the flow. I'm concentrating on the operation at this point.
More than likely I'll be better prepared for the results next time.
Take care

Yes, it can feel like information overload, can't it. I had a little notebook that I kept handy at home and put in my bag when I went out, then whenever a question popped into my head, I wrote it down so I had it when I next saw my nurse. I think going with the flow is a pretty good strategy - at least for now!

Hi again , My operation was in a private hospital too, but it was the same surgeon and Anaesthetist as it would have been so complete continuity. The nursing staff were great and the care was superb. I was a morning case and the lunch they brought me afterwards was delicious and so well presented. So private treatment without having to pay for it ! My Consultant came to see me and explain before and after the operation. I hope yours does the same. Good luck with your operation on Tuesday. Sending hugs xx
Kwissy
I'm also having the same surgeon and antheatist. How it was explained to me that my local hospital is not doing any cancer operations during lockdown.
I'm not going in until noon so will be discharged later. So maybe I'll get a lovely meal and not just toast.
I'm hoping that the roads clear by Tuesday as we live nearly an hour away, there has been a lot of flooding in these roads. (Cheshire)
Thanks for your message

I will keep my fingers crossed for you that the roads clear by Tuesday. Have you got snow too? - relatives in and around the potteries tell me they have.Sending hugs xx
Yes we've had snow on and off all day. I had a covid test today and the roads were quite bad in places.
Yet Thursday we and the next town had floods. We live at the top of a large hill so are quite safe. My best mate lives in Shropshire speaking to her today and they've hardly had any snow. Funny British weather.

Kwissy I had my operation yesterday. In at noon home for 8.30pm. it was a lovely hospital had my own room, private bathroom, and TV. Food was good. Naice sandwiches, fruit, cake, crisps, orange juice and coffee which was served in a China cup and saucer. If I'd of been in the morning it would of been a cooked meal.
No pain I just ache under my armpit. Started my exercises.
Surgeon came and explained everything. I know I'll be having radiotherapy and hormone tablets but until the results come back is unsure if I need chemo.
Take care
