Hi all,
Hoping for some assistance. I start radiotherapy in a week and have been recommended to use this product. I have asked thr GP for it ans even gone as far as finding out the prescribing codes for them. They have said they still cannot find it, how is this possible?
Thanks,
Michelle
Hi
I had the same problem back in July and had to purchase them myself but having just done an internet search, it looks like that supplier doesn’t exist anymore.
My radiotherapy unit recommended 100% aloe vera gel kept in the fridge for directly after, then any moisturiser without Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) in it eg Aveeno to be used four times a day. Although the R1/R2 are good, I’m sure the alternatives your unit recommends will do a similar job so hopefully they can recommend you something else.
Best of luck with your treatment next week

Thanks so much! I had a nurse check their system at the hospital and they gave me some codes, those ones did not work for the GP. I have another call with the pharmacist at the surgery tomorrow so taken a screen shot of these to pass on. Fingers crossed, who would have thought getting some blooming cream and gel would be this difficult!!!
Hi , I just wanted to add that it’s not worth ‘stressing’ about getting these creams. I can recall when they first got mentioned way back and even then people struggled to get them prescribed. However any form of cream suggested by your unit WILL do the same job!
I don’t know how many sessions you are having but as a rule these days it is only a week or two of sessions. I had Radiotherapy 7years ago and at that point had 25 sessions plus boosts! However even with that number of sessions my skin held up well using just a simple aqueous cream that I left in the fridge!
So please don’t get worked up if you can’t find a way to get this product. I’m sure your hospital will advise you of a product that will keep your skin safe. My best piece of advice is to apply often and straight from fridge. Also if you are able take a small tube with you to apply straight after Rads or as soon as your team advise. I also found after about a week that going bra less was far more comfortable, but that may not be an issue if you only have a few sessions!
I know my treatment was way back. But I hope that helps to reassure you. Wishing you all the best with your treatment. Sal xxx
Thanks so much!
I dont think am going to have much luck to be honest. It was not coming up in their system under any of the codes.
I have it for 3 weeks, 5 days a week. I already have some aloe (already in thr fridge!) and we have e45 and aveeno already so just going to see how I go with that. Thankfully we are not far from the hospital only about 20 mins.
It is like most things isnt it, I did a lot of prep for chemo and then did not have too bad a run so did not use a lot of the stuff I got.
Only 5 more days to wait!
