Please do not listen to non medical advice.  Your doctors know you and know what medical conditions you have and will only recommend treatments which are suitable for you.  I am not having chemo because my doctor is concerned about my current health issues and the immunity problems chemo causes, so they won't offer anything which will make your condition worse.

  • Thanks lesley63, you are so right I shouldn’t listen to someone that doesn’t really know my medical history, I should know better. I appreciate you taking the time to reply to me so going forward I’ll take your advise and only listen to my doctors and not get my knickers in a twist listening to other people opinions. Thank you

  • Hi

A very warm welcome to the online community - though sorry you find yourself here.

You'll find we are a large, friendly group of people all here to support you and help in any way we can. I did a quick search of the site to see if there was any information but didn't come up with anything.

Lesley63 is right in that it's best to listen to medical professionals. I was about to suggest posting your question in Ask a Nurse but I see you've already done that - they should get back to you soon.

I'm assuming your diagnosis is quite recent if you are waiting for your surgery - I hope you are doing well. All the waiting is the worst part of the treatment and we are all here if you have any other questions or just want some distraction for a while.

if it helps, before you are given radiotherapy, you should have a consultation with your oncologist and they will also be able to answer any questions about  Lupus then - it's always best to ask, I think because no matter how much we know we shouldn't listen to any scare stories, they do play on our minds.

Sending some virtual hugs your way

  • Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question, it is much appreciated.  Your right I have only recently been diagnosed and my mind and thoughts are all over the place so the last thing I need is to listen a non medical person who doesn’t know anything about my medical history, so i will happily take on your advice and speak to the professionals only and not listen to scary stories. Thank you so much
