Hello! After finding a small lump in my right breast late on 23/12/20 and seeing my GP a few days after Christmas, who referred me to the clinic, I have my appointment at 3pm this afternoon, have spent the last 3 weeks overthinking what the outcome will be , never had any breast issues before, but losing a really close friend to BC just over 12 months ago I am really worried. The Hospital sent a really informative booklet alll about what will happen today, so I feel prepared, my husband is supportive, making all the right comments about being sure it’s nothing serious and it will all be fine, but underneath I know he is worried too. Haven’t told anyone else yet, my mum or adult daughters, until I know more, no point worrying them, one good thing about covid is that no face to face contact with them has made not giving anything away easy.
i have been “stalking” the site here for almost 2 weeks and can see what a great support it is, and a great once knowledge and advice , thank you

Sue x

We are all with you today in spirit as we have all been there.  You will probably have more waiting ahead because, unless scans show it is  definitely nothing to worry about, they will probably take biopsies and wait for the results. If it turns out to be cancer, please be aware that breast cancer is very treatable and as your lump is small you have found it early.

  • Hi , Welcome to the site no-one wants to join- but it is a great source of practical help and support. Glad to hear that your hospital has sent you an information leaflet and that your husband is supportive.Do ask as many questions as you wish at the clinic.  I took a notebook and pen to make notes as I knew from past experience that I would not take in and remember all the explanations. Hopefully your husband will be able to be with you when the Consultant speaks to you after the tests. My  breast care nurse was present at this stage and explained all the details again and gave me further booklets. As has said IF it turns out to be cancer this is very treatable now. Please do not seek information from Dr google as he is often out of date or just plain wrong.Your breast care nurse is the one to ask questions of as she will know the local arrangements etc. I will be thinking of you this afternoon and please let us know how you went on. Sending supportive hugs xx

  • Hi Sue,  thinking of you today.  I know you'll be swinging between "I'm wasting everyone's time" to "What song shall I have at my funeral".  Both are wrong!  Hopefully it turns out to be a benign lump but it needs investigating.  If its not benign, it's treatable.

I was recalled from my first routine screening so never had a lump.  I didn't tell my daughter until I had biopsy results that I had been recalled as she was away in uni.

Please let us know who you get on x

Hi everyone, good news, the consultant examined the lump and said he was not concerned , thought it was probably normal breast tissue or a small cyst, but said a mammogram and ultrasound was needed just to check. Mammogram didn’t show anything and the doctor who did the ultrasound, could feel the lump but nothing showed on the US scan. No biopsy needed therefore. Everyone was lovely, I just feel a bit of a time waster...
Relief doesn’t come close.... thank you for all the support on this forum, especially your messages this morning.

  • Hi That is wonderful news - so happy for you. Don't feel that you have been a time waster - you haven't been  and it so good to hear that you have  had such a good result! Time to have a celebratory drink or meal . Sending congratulatory hugs xx

You are no way a time waster.  These things have to be checked and you are one of the lucky ones who know it is not a problem.  Congratulations on your news.  Just keep checking yourself and make sure you get anything else you find checked out.

  • Fantastic news but don't be put off going back if the lump changes xx
