I’m a 41 Yr old single mother of two children and was diagnosed with HER2-ve, ER+ve breast cancer on 15/12. On 29/12 they confirmed it’s stage 3 as it’s spread to the cervical lymph nodes in my neck.
my treatment started yesterday - Zoladex, Letrazole and Palbociclib. I’ll need a mastectomy and radio too.
terrified & looking for a support group who are going through something similar or having the same treatment- anyone there?!
thanks xx
Hi
A warm welcome to the online community but sorry that you have reason to join us. We are a large group of very friendly folk who are more than willing to offer you advice, support, virtual hugs, laughs - whatever you need.
I'm not surprised you're terrified, it's a huge shock and not anything any of us expect. I'm sure you are starting to feel a bit better now that treatment has started - the waiting can seem endless. Breast cancer is very treatable and outcomes are excellent. There are lots of us on here who are many years on from treatment and getting on with our lives. It's not an easy thing to do and the emotional rollercoaster it sends you on can take you by surprise but one day it will be over and you'll look back and be amazed at it all.
Have a look around the site, and just shout if you need a hand with anything.
We have a thread for radiotherapy when you start that and there are also some long-running threads where you can just chat, laugh and take your mind off things.
AWAKE is great for lighthearted distraction and there is Thought For The Day if you feel in need of some inspiration. I'm sure you are pretty busy at the moment with your 2 children, but should you need any encouragement to get moving, there is Walking Back to Happiness where everyone posts pictures of their walks.
Hope you are getting on OK with the treatment without too many side effects.

Hi Alice, so sorry you find yourself here. It sounds like you have been treated quickly which is great. My diagnosis is very similar, ER+ , HER-, in my lymoh nodes as well. I have had surgery first and will start Chemo Feb /March. Then rads and hormone therepy. Its hard to keep positive but keeping busy helps. Have you been asked what surgery you want? Will it be a lumpectomy? Things will seen better when you get a treatment plan, its the waiting around thats the worst. The breast care team at the hospital can be a great support, if you have any questions call them. Do you have family and friends you can talk to? Sending big virtual hugs Anna Xx
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
