Hello, just wanted to say hello.  I didn't have mastectomy but I'm sure someone will be along soon to give you some helpful tips.

I think the main thing most ladies would say is front opening pyjama's.  Do you have a dedicated Breast care nurse you can ask.  In the UK we tend to be allocated a BC nurse who in the main are very helpful.

Welcome to the group but at the same time, sorry you are here. It's a huge shock isn't it - you must still be reeling. As Grogg says, front opening pyjamas or, if you are having it as day surgery, front opening clothes to get dressed in afterwards. You'll need a front-fastening soft bra too if you can get one and here in the UK we get given a softie to put in it - a triangular sort of pillow to pad out your bra on that side. Not sure what you'll get in Spain but I'm sure your consultant or nurse will talk that through with you if they haven't already. It's usually quite manageable in terms of pain and general well being. You should be given exercises to do afterwards and it's important to start those as soon as possible to keep your shoulder moving.

Hope all goes well - it's so daunting, but you'll get through and this is a great place for support - we're a friendly bunch. I'm sure some others will be along with more advice soon.

Thankyou I have pre op on Monday which is another scan, bloods, canular put in and see annethiest then on tues I have to go to another hospital where they will mark up my lymph nodes to see if they need removed.
