I have just diagnosed with breast cancer. Have started chemotherapy. I am still very scared about the whole thing. I heard from an oncologist that my cancer is curable but I am still scared Worried

  • Hi , welcome to the club we’d all rather not join! Sorry you find yourself here but hopefully you’ll find lots of support and shared experiences. It’s a very scary thing to get a cancer diagnosis but it’s definitely true that breast cancer is very treatable. For support while you’re having chemo, check out the January Chemo thread in the Questions about Diagnosis and Treatment section. Lots of folk there going through chemo at the moment as well as others who’ve been through it and come out the other end.
Sending love and a big virtual hug to you, HFxx

Hi Newlife, what a positive name you've got! I know you are scared, everyone is when they first get the news. We're probably scared all the way through and beyond, but take it all in small chunks. Get to the next bit and the next and the next. Lots of fun and advice and support on here, don't be afraid to ask. Stay positive if you can,, not for anyone else, but just for you x

Hi there...certainly  don’t beat yourself up about feeling this way it’s completely normal to feel anxious-it’s an immense thing to get your head around. The forum can be a good place to check in and get some reassurance but also try not to overwhelm yourself either. Take each day at a time. I was diagnosed last Oct-I’m having radiotherapy now but still have very wobbly days, it’s normal... just try to keep reminding yourself that you’ve got a great team behind you to fight this!
