Hi, I am in the good position of having completed my 6 FEC-T treatments and 20 radiotherapy sessions (Chemo finished Aug and Radio Oct). I have just had my 7th Herceptin but I cant walk properley and have very stiff legs & knees. If I sit for a while my legs cease up and when I am in bed on a night my legs, feet and hands are very painful. Once I get up and get moving I feel better but I still struggle with the stairs. Is anyone else having the same symptoms? Someone said it could be arthritis? someone else said it could be a side effect of the herceptin? I am seeing the doctor tomorrow but wondered if anyone else was going through the same.

Hi I am way behind you, Had my last chemo yesterday and 3rd Heceptin. I have also started to get loads of aches and pains, restless legs in bed and swollen joints, I spoke to the doctor yesterday who said it could be the Heceptin, the steroids, or the pregabalin that i'm taking so I'm none the wiser really.... sorry if this is not much help wishing you well with the rest of your treatment xxx

Well I wasnt on the pregabalin and I havent had steroids for a long time so I am inclined to think it could be the herceptin because our symptons do sound similar. I will let you know what the doctor thinks.

    Hi

I am not on any drugs as Triple negative.

But I am stiff when sitting for a while. In morning I have to walk gingerly down stairs so stiff. I have weird random aches and bad pains in back, particulary at night and have to take painkillers. I have what feels like arthiritis in thumbs and have lost all strength in hands.................So maybe it's just the chemo drugs not the herceptin??? Who knows.

Unbelievably I still have the neuropathic stabbing pains occasionally from last Tax!!!! In temples and other strange places!

Just hoping it will all wear off in time.

    Hi Lou

Just noticed your post and wanted to say I identify totally with your symptoms.  I too have back pains while in bed at night and also when getting up in the morning I am so stiff, I can hardly walk down the stairs.  I have pains in my ankles/achiles heels for some reason.  After a while the stiffness wears off and I am fine.  I also get stiff if I am sat in the same position for a while (especially on the lap top, sat at the dining room table).  I finished my chemo back in May and radio in August.  I am triple negative so am not on any other treatments.  I mentioned the pains in my ankles to my gp and she just printed off a fact sheet on exercises!!  Oh well, I hope in time the pain and stiffness will go away!

Not really much help, but wanted to say you are not alone!

    Best wishes.

Omg -can't believe you finished chemo in May and still feel like this.

I am Triple neg too and 11 weeks past last chemo and still feel like what everyone has described. Sitting her with pain in back now and heading for yet another bath!! But thought it would have worn off for you by now.

Saying that the Onc said the other day that I probably won't feel back to my old self for 18 -24months! Oh well will just have to put up with feeling like a 90 yr old for some time. I don't spose you can have this treatment without after effects.

  • Hello All

I am also experiencing the intense stiffness. I am lucky not to be having the random pains though. I had 6 FEC-Ts and 20 radiotherapy sessions but I have not started on any hormone medication yet. Might this be related to the menopause which the chemo seems to have brought on do you think? I am 45. Not sure how old you all are.
