Hi, I'm a stage 4 cancer breast cancer patient, It has spread to my lungs, lymph nodes, sternum and brain, the last 2 years I was taking palbociclib and letrozole, but unfortunately they have stopped working for me, I have now started capivasertib with a fulvestrant injection,  so far I feel weak as a kitten, would like to know if anyone else is on this treatment, and if so how they are getting on please?

  • Hello

I'm very sorry to read your post and see your diagnosis.

I'm not in your situation, but as your post has dropped from page 1, I am answering now to 'bump' it back to the top of page 1 in the hope that there's someone around who can give you advice.

    Kindest wishes, Lesley

  • Is anyone around now who can help  ?
If no-one is in your situation, it may be worth while giving Macmillan a call and see if they can give you a bit of support. 0808 808 00 00 - either a nurse of a support advisor.

  • Thank you, I am starting to get used to the new tablets now, although they make me feel sick, but I have an appointment on Friday at the clinic, so am going to ask if I can have a lower dose, hopefully I will be able to continue on them and not feel like a zombie. Thank you for replying to me . Regards Marleymoo

  • Ask too if they can sort you out anti nausea meds and ask about efficacy of lower doses as you need to know to make the best decision for yourself.

  • Hi Marleymoo!

I am not on TRUQAP (Capivasertib) myself but my mother was on the drug for about 6 months last year. I wanted to post her experience in the hopes that it may help someone with what to look out for in terms of side effects.

She was initially started on the drug and had a rash (looks like quite a few people on here have experienced similar!). She was put back onto it at half dose and monitored and the rash cleared itself up. Unfortunately, she then began to experience very high blood sugars which ended up resulting in a DKA which she sadly didn't survive. Her doctors did not pick up her high blood sugar, and if they had she would likely still be with us today.

If while on this drug you experience anything that might indicate high blood sugar including dehydration (made worse by diarrhea also common on this drug!), abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting please please let your doctors know straight away. I also wish that we had received all of her blood test results so that we could have spotted this even if the doctors didn't.

Wishing you all the best and hope that this drug works for you Heart️
