Hey, i am A 14 year survivor of breast cancer , here for a chat if anyone needs it :)

  • That’s great to hear,  ! I’m approaching 7 years, hoping to double that in the fullness of time. It’s always great to hear from others who are further down the post diagnosis road xxx

  • That’s amazing and gives us all hope.

Please could you tell us what type and grade you had? What treatment you had and any ongoing treatments you were put on?

I’ve just started 10 years of letrozole and will be taking Abemaclib for 2 years. Apparently the two together are more effective and also bone infusions which have shown to prevent spread to bones. Just hoping for the best. Mine was grade 3 and oncotype 26 for distant recurrence so little worried about the future.

  • Hi yes it was grade 3 fast growing, but was very fortunate that it was caught very very early. I had attended the Clinic for an unrelated cyst, but when they did the mammogram and the ultrasound they found that there was something there so I had a biopsy and it was cancer. I had six lots of chemo and a months worth of radiotherapy after a lumpectomy ,  I was then On tamoxifen For 11 years due to my age as I was 39

I was lucky that mine was just cells  forming. It was calcium deposits that they found but had i not had the cyst who knows where I would’ve been because it may have spread to my lymph nodes but luckily it hadn’t and only two lymph nodes were removed

  • Thank you for that. Similar here. I didn’t have a lump, well I did but that was a fibroadenoma and just by chance they found cancerous cells all over my breast so I had a mastectomy at 40 so similar age to you. I’m starting a month of radiotherapy in a few weeks.

So glad to hear you are out the other side and wishing you good health for a very long time to come x.

  • Thank you! And yes very similar, you always think that you get lumps ect with cancer, and the reality is, u dont. But it seems our bodies are very good at sending us other warning signs, and i am grateful for that!

I wish you all the strength you need to beat this and stay strong x

  • Hi so good to hear positive story only diagnosed in march this year had 4 E/C chemo now 4 taxol but it’s given me neuropathy ulcers and completely wiped out any ideas I can do to help neuropathy… I’m 62 and hoping it won’t last forever x

  • Sorry to hear that you have this additional problem. I didnt get neuropathy ulcers, they sound painful!
I do know that wiped out feeling though, i think you just have to listen to your body with regards to rest, and ensure that you get plenty of it!
I know at times it’s difficult, but , trust me, you will have time to catch up with things on the good days. I know i spent alot of time sleeping, but thats what my body needed.  X

  • Hi sorry I should have put a full stop after neuropathy.. and mouth ulcers . My legs feel so weak and that’s not me I’m normally buzzing around everywhere but this paxitactal is ruining me.. I rest a lot of the day but it’s so depressing not being able to simple things .. neuropathy is brutal… I can’t sleep during the day my body do t want to , probaly be easier if it did I wouldn’t be tormented by my mind wanting to do stuff x

  •   just wanted to say, make sure you tell your oncologist/chemo nurse that you are suffering with Neuropathy. As there is a chance that they could reduce the chemo dose that they are giving you. Which in turn can help with the Neuropathy.

As for the mouth ulcers, have they given you a mouth wash? If so use it as instructed, it does help! Eventually xx

I am 12years since Primary diagnosis. However also 9years since Secondaries to the bone diagnosis,…. Does that still count as a success story?? I’m still here and that’s the main thing!

Just started on new treatment to try and keep the Cancer under control Fingers crossed

Wishing you all the best of luck with your treatment or your continued journey remaining NED! xxx

  • Morning yes told my consultant she is going to reduce the dose and instead of 2 weekly go 3 weekly … yes got mouthwash but not helping a great deal Been having salt water rinses .. … yes definitely a success story , I also had a stroke 4 years ago and just got myself back to work and back in a better place and then had the cancer diagnosis in march this year … but I will fight it again it’s just a hard brutal time , I couldn’t walk after my stroke but got myself back to full time work working on a busy cardiac ward .. sometimes it all seems too much , I’ve got to be a bit more positive x
