So thank you for your advice yesterday.  So I ended up in the critical assessment unit at around 5. I had bloods taken which showed that my platelets were low (white cells basically) my blood pressure was low and my electrolytes were low. My temperature had stabilised at that point. We had the usual fight to get bloods which caused me a lot of upset then they put me on intravenous fluids and antibiotics. I then had tablet antibiotics and phosphate tablets which unfortunately caused me to be sick a couple of times. I’ve got to go back this afternoon to collect antibiotics which I’ll be in for a few days and have 3 more rounds of the tummy injection for my immune system. Then more bloods on Friday. I got home around 9.45. X

  • Oh bugger, are they in your legs?..that was the only real bad side affects I had were really bad joint pain,it was shooting pains in knees and ankles...it lasted a couple of days...worse for the first few rounds then wore off towards the last sessions...I found a warm bath... then strange as it sounds keeping legs cool worked better than warm..sending hugs xxx

  • I've been working today but have got a bit of annual leave before the next cycle now. Are you coping better with this chemo? Xxx

  • Hey thankyou so much xxxx

  • Yeah they are shocking it’s like someone giving you a dead leg it gives way … yeah they are from my knees to ankles but what’s it all about shooting pains in my bum cheeks feel like a voodoo doll someone’s sticking pins in me … they are actually shooting up my foo foo too it’s awlful … what the hells going on xxxx

  • Hi that’s good you have some annual leave , yeah it’s better but it’s the shooting pains in legs and things that are horrendous so very painful … it came on today as did the constipation, took lactulose will take more before bed … when’s your next chemo because mines changed forgot when yours is xxxxx

  • I found i couldn't even describe what it felt like it was such a painful feeling but weird with it!!..it was like my body was sorted of attacking itself...It got worse at night..I tried hot water bottle that didn't work!..I could only take paracetamol for it...it really was the worse part of the chemotherapy I experienced!xxxx

  • Dreading trying to sleep tonight yeah I can only take paracetamol too I will take some at bedtime and just hope I sleep it is weird it’s like you have a tick because it will suddenly shoot into your legs or places xxxx

  • Yeah definitely try to time when you can take the paracetamol so it gets you through the night..I had to write down when I took it as I didn't want to take too many!..I found keeping legs uncovered in bed and cooler seem to help..not alot but definitely better than keeping them all snuggled which I thought would be better!..it used to last a couple of days when I got it...fingers crossed you get some sleep tonight xxxx

  • Oh god I hope so otherwise I’d be so grumpy it’s one thing being awake but being awake with jumpy painful legs is another thing xxx

  • I save my paracetamol so I could have them at like 8pm 12 then 4am...it's always worse being in pain through the night!..xxxx
