Hi I have just received my invitation to have a routine 3 yearly NHS Mammogram.
I was diagnose with BC in March 2024 and had my annual follow up mammograms with the breast care unit in March 2025.
It seems that I can have the NHS Screening one too as long as there is a 6 months gap since my last mammogram.
Has anyone else had both in the same year?
What are the pros and cons of having both?
sx
Hi
I was told that there has to be 12 months between mammograms, in fact when I wanted to have my annual one earlier this year I was only allowed to bring it forward by 2 weeks.
I think the three yearly screenings get sent out in error. Your best bet would be to speak to your BCNS or phone the number on the screening letter.
Hi Deebee60 welcome to the forum..The same thing happened for me when I was on a yearly schedule and I just contacted the Breast Screening number on your letter and explained to them. They will cancel that appointment and put you onto the recall programme that you will go onto after 5 years of yearly Mammograms. Hope that's useful for you. Best wishes Gail xxx
