Accupuncture

After surgery and radiotherapy, I’m now on a cocktail of adjuvant drugs (exemestane and ribociclib).

I’m having the usual side effects eg painful, stiff joints but I’m also really cold (and often shivering) 90% of the time. Does anyone else feel like that?

I’ve thought of having accupuncture. Has anyone tried that? I had a course several years ago to help with migraine - although it didn’t improve the headaches it left me with toasty warm hands and feet, something which lasted for decades.

I’ve also had it along with physio for back pain and, again, it helped.

  • Hi See,

I use Acupuncture & started it just before chemotherapy & kept it up through all my treatments. I am now on anastrazole & abemaciclib.

i consider it my ‘secret sauce’.

  • “Secret sauce”…sounds a bit like you carry a hip flask (an option I haven’t entirely discounted, although, given I don’t drink alcohol because it triggers migraine, maybe I’ll give it a miss!).
Good luck with the rest of your treatment.

  • Hi  , I had ear acupuncture at the Maggie’s Centre at Addenbrookes, to help with the hot flushes (I’m on Anastrozole). It definitely helped and I also felt less anxious. It was several years ago now, I’d like a repeat course (it was 6 weeks). I also made 2 good friends in the little group and we still meet up from time to time. I used to call us my hormonally deranged group but I’m there only one still on hormone treatment so I’ve had to drop that name! I’d happily have it again so would recommend it. Love and hugs, HFxx

  • Hi, I am normally pretty warm but during chemo I was cold all the time so I think it is a side effect. Hope this eases for you soon, best wishes
