Infections after treatment

I had surgery &  radiotherapy 1 year ago. I was already immunocompromised from RA drugs but I’m thinking the radio has set me back a bit ( although I also took AIs for 6 months. )I’ve felt sluggish probably most of the last year but I put it down to general post treatment fatigue. But now I’ve developed a nasty rash on my forehead that pharmacist thought was impetigo, Spanish Dr thought was an infected cut and my own GP thinks may be bacterial cellulitis. 2 courses of ABs later, I’m questioning shingles- my 3 grandkids had chickenpox over Christmas. Although I’ve had shingles 12 yrs ago AND I’ve had the vaccine, I am becoming more convinced. I have a follow up telephone consultation with my GP tomorrow. I’m not sure he was totally in tune with my cancer treatment & Im at the stage where I don’t offer up this information if I don’t think it’s relevant, but thought I’d pop on here & see whether anyone else has experienced similar infections. It could also be the winter blues of course, this is not my favourite time of year.

  • Hi there, I'm one of the community champions on this group and I just noticed your post hasn’t had any replies, as the site is quite busy. Whilst unfortunately I don't have the experience to help you myself, my response will bump you back to the top of the forum and I am sure someone with the right experience will be along soon. Best wishes with your GP appointment
