Hello

I have an appointment on Tuesday to discover results of MRI scan and to see what if any treatment I can have but want to have questions ready for them. My head is all over the place and can't think of one question to ask do if anyone can help I would be very grateful

  • Hi  , welcome to the forum, I’ve found it a great place for support and shared experiences. What do you already know about your situation? Eg do you already have a cancer diagnosis and now waiting for more information from the MRI? I’m sure people will have suggestions for questions but useful to know what you know already, if that makes sense. Love and hugs, HFxx

  • I was told on January 10th that I had breast cancer and the MRi scan was to determine the size and then what treatment they were going to suggest

  • Trying to remain positive but it's really hard at the minute x

  • Maybe initially be lead by what they tell you in terms of what the MRI scan has told them.

My experience is the Doctors can go through it quite quickly and it's hard to take it in, but they then ask you if you have questions or leave you with the nurse, this is a good place to start, either ask them to go through it again or ask them what the next couple of weeks are going to look like. Don't look further forward than a few weeks until they have given you a plan.

I struggled initially to think o questions and often came on here for advice.

    Good luck. Xx

  • Thank you that sounds like a path I will go down.  Still can't get my head round it all but gonna remain positive and fight whatever is thrown at me .

  • You’re at a horrible limbo stage where you only know bits. It’s really tortuous. And very understandable to be struggling to feel positive. Most of us here have I think felt so much more able to cope once we know what we’re dealing with and what treatment is proposed.
I assume that at your appointment they will tell you the size, grade and type of breast cancer. In terms of questions, I wanted to know which treatments were appropriate (in my case, surgery, radiotherapy and hormone treatment). I also wanted to know a rough timescale so that I could tell work how long I might be off, though I got that very wrong!
Have they given you any indication what treatments they might propose? I think I knew initially that I’d likely start with surgery but not much more until I got my biopsy results. Xx

  • The Dr at North Tees mentioned surgery but I have transferred to a closer hospital so am still non the wiser and my nerves were not helped when 45 minutes before my appointment at North Tees it was cancelled hence why I transferred X surgery doesn't bother me but it's the not knowing and yes I need to know so that I can tell work what is going to happen x
