Hi,
I'm now 3 weeks post bilateral mastectomy without reconstruction and due to get my results next week.
As both my IDC and ILC cancers hormone receptive (both estrogen and progestogen), I had to have my hormone coil removed pre surgery. I had a period pre-surgery, which unfortunately was pretty grim without the coil, but I'm now 3 weeks late for my next one. I'm 52 and whilst perimenopausal, I've still had my periods even when had I had the coil.
Has anyone else found their periods have changed post surgery?
Many thanks in advance.
Hi there, hope your recovery is going well. I'm one of the champions here in this group and whilst I haven't got the experience to answer you myself, I noticed you've not had any replies yet, as the site is quite busy. My response will bump you back to the top and I hope someone will be along soon to answer you. Best wishes
I didn’t have a mastectomy but I did have a lumpectomy. I’m also 52, but 50 when I had my operation. I also had hormone receptive cancer so had to have my mirena coil out. My operation was in the August. I bled quite heavily after the coil removal. Had radiation therapy 5 session and was put on tamoxifen. Which possibly put me into menopause. I’ve not had periods since then.

Thanks for your reply. I'll see how it goes, as might just be my body just needs to settle down.
I think my pathway is radiotherapy too, then hormone tablets, but not sure which ones yet x
