Hi all,
I’m suffering from really bad indigestion that’s getting worse with each treatment. I have suffered for years and my oncologist warned me chemo would make it worse.
Whilst I used to have it every few weeks I am now getting it most nights usually before bed then it settled then it will wake me up around 4am and last around 4 hours.
I am on omeprazole 20mg twice a day, paracetamol when pain bad and gaviscon multiple times through the day.
I don’t eat close to bed, I’ve tried herbal things and I sleep with a wedge pillow so not lying flat.
They tried adding famotidine but I got bad heart palpitations.
Im just so knackered and fed up! I will speak to the team next week when I go for my next weekly session but I wondered if anyone else had suffered like this and had any ideas/what worked for them!
I’ve still got a long way to go and can’t cope with this for much longer x
Hi Kiwi
i would ask the doctor for an alternative to Omeprazole. I have had long term problems with reflux etc. I am on Pantoprazole 40mg which I take on a morning. I never got on with Omeprazole. There are plenty of alternatives for you to try. Maybe you also need something like Ondansetron if you are feeling nauseous. When I had chemo I had domperidone, not sure if you can still get that.
Good luck.
