Hi all

Ive just finished 18 weeks of Chemo and now moving onto Tamoxifen in 2 weeks time - I was just wondering is there a better time of day to take the tablets? I suffered quite a lot with sickness on chemo so wondered if before bed might be better?
any advice greatly appreciated xx

  • I’m on tamoxifen and take my dose with my evening meal (5:30pm). When I first started taking it I did find I had indigestion type symptoms. I started having kefir, natural Greek yoghurt and that has totally calmed all that down. Everyone can be different to how they react. I just prefer to take it with my largest meal of the day. Hope this advice is helpful to you.

  • I’ve been on tamoxifen for 16 months now. I’m 51. So whether I’ve gone through the menopause because of my age or because the tamoxifen my have speeded that process up I’m not sure. I’ve managed to resolve some of the side effects naturally. I’ve upped my exercise (walking and Pilates). Extremely healthy diet. I’ve lost weight because of this. It can possibly make menopausal symptoms more intense. I was suffering early morning hot flushes. But found the more amount of miles I walked the morning hot flushes stopped. I don’t know your age, but it has caused vaginal dryness; but there are natural products you can use for this. YES vaginal moisturiser and hyalofemme. I could go on vaginal estrogen cream, but I know my oncologist doesn’t really want me to go on this. But obviously there’s quality of live to think of. Which he had said in a letter to me. So it’s obviously up to me how I proceed. So far I’m managing using natural products which don’t contain any hormones (estrogen or progesterone). I’m grateful to still be able to manage in the bedroom department with my husband still. Which is recommended to keep everything healthy down there. I can only voice  to you how I’ve experienced it; that doesn’t mean you will have the same symptoms. I wish you all the best for your start of the journey with tamoxifen. I will be on it between 2 to 2 1/2 years then be put on anastrozole. This is due to my age, and where I am age wise (menopause).
