Evening Everyone,
I was diagnosed with Her-2 negative Breast Cancer in March 2022.
I had a lumpectomy and 10 rounds or radiotherapy, I'm currently on daily Tamoxifen and monthly Zoladex Injections.
I've had twinges and pains every now and then, but recently it seems to be more and more.
I had 2 nodes checked and all clear, but my left armpit feels very swollen.
I am also getting severe pains in my boob, like a contracting pain but to the point that it really takes my breath away, when it first happened I thought am I having a heart attack.
I have spoken to my Breast nurse and surgeon and voiced my concerns, but they just keep telling me it is normal and it is the affects of Radiotherapy.
Does anyone else suffer in a similar why?
The pains today have been worse than ever, I am at the Breast Clinic on Friday so will be talking to my breast nurse again.
Every twinge or pain after a cancer diagnosis always makes you think the worse, but I also don't want to be fobbed off being told its normal all the time.
Bye for now

Hi Sassy
i had a lumpectomy in April 23 chemo and radio finished treatment jan 24 .my boob is so sore and under my armpit !! I think it’s the effects from radiotherapy !! I do have some lymphodema in my breast everyone says it’s normal .
I’m four years since surgery and I still, get pain in my rib cage, all tests including bone scan are clear, so it has been put down to radiotherapy damage. I find it gets worse with stress or when I’ve had alcohol. If you are not happy phone the BC team again and ask to be seen.
I gather radiotherapy after effects can last at least 18 months. And any node removal means you’ve had exploratory surgery which can damage nerve endings. Nerves grow at around a millimetre or less per month, so some nerve involvement is possible.
But I’d be inclined to discuss carefully with your team and insist they take your concerns seriously.
for myself, I’ve now got significant numbness of areas in armpit as well as chest wall after my mx last May, there were nodes searched and some removed (one positive), radiotherapy to chest wall and axilla have meant my shoulder exercises need to continue (and have been added to by a cancer-trained physio.)
hugs xxx
