I currently take this. I am struggling with the side effects the most difficult being insomnia. Is there anyone who is struggling with this too?. Any advise would be appreciated
Hi Chezzabell welcome to the forum. Unfortunately most of this group of drugs come with some side effects and some as you describe. There are a couple of things to say to you. 1) We know that different brands of suppliers can affect us all and that means trial and error to see which one suits you best, then ensuring the Doctor and Pharmacist make sure you get only that brand. 2) You can ask to have a different named medication from the same drug group. How long have you been on this medication?
Hi thanks for your reply. I have been on it for two years. I was on a mood stabiliser fir two years too along side anastrazole, this made me drowsy and I did sleep, I have been off this medication due 3 weeks now. That’s when the insomnia started. I feel my mood stabiliser medication masked the side effects of Anastrazole.
I have tried to stick to the same brand my chemist can’t guarantee that I receive the same brand, it’s what ever they get in.
Hiya, omg I had no idea that could be the culprit for my insomnia! Im subject both to cancer meds and things for an autoimmune disorder so take so much I ought to rattle. I have no answers other than to suggest tuning in to BBC world service, but avoid it when big football contests are on, or elections!
Hiya, thanks for messaging back.
yes I have had acupuncture before with my Cancer my Choices. It’s very good. Do you take Anastrazole?
Apparently so. Haha currently trying Magnesium Glycinate to see if that helps.
Hi Chezzabell72
As Gail has said, the different brands do have different coatings. From research I know that Teva and Accord have the same coatings (I was ok on both). Consillient has a different coating and I was definitely not ok on this one. I asked my doctors to write on the prescription slip "Teva or Accord Brand only" and when my pharmacy struggled to get either, I didn't get an automatic prescription sent to them, I requested an actual slip so I could go to different pharmacies to find the brand I wanted. If a local one didn't have either, I would always try and keep a couple of weeks in stock ( I started ordering a couple of days early, so I eventually got a 'stock in hand' and then when going to a different town shopping, I'd drop into their pharmacies to check if they had my brand.
I didn't have insomnia on any of them - but Consillient caused aches and pains. Having tested that brand twice, I researched which ones were similar to the Accord brand that I had been ok with. Could be worth trying different brands (Consillient hit me within a very short timescale), so if you find one that doesn't cause insomnia (or other nasty side effects), go back to your doctor with a specific request on your prescription.
Kindest wishes, Lesley
Hiya
Thankyou for your reply. I’m currently trying accord so will see if that helps at all. Yes i always order in advance too. Last prescription it was a box that just says Anastrazole, no brand?.
I will try other chemists too.
wishing you all the best too.
