Breast pain!

Hello,

I was diagnosed with TNBC stage 2 grade 3 and start my chemo on the 4th November. Recently it’s felt as though someone is stabbing my lump and it has really bad stinging spasms. Nurse said it could be because I’m due on, but it hurts so much. I have now noticed that I have puckering, orange peel skin and discharge (which I didn’t have before) is this just how it goes and the chemo will make it better? Has anyone had the pain? I’ve tried taking painkillers and ibuleve gel but it’s not touching it. I don’t have a temp and it’s not red at all.

  • Hi CLK81 welcome to the forum. I don't know enough about your specific type of breast cancer but as these symptoms are new I would be tempted to get in touch with the breast care nurse if you have one. If not I would make contact with the chemo unit and see if someone there can have a look at this change for you. Sorry not to have been of more help but please do let us know how you get on? Xxx

  • Hi CLK81,

Im sorry to learn that you are going through this ordeal, it must be terrible for you. I’ve had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed and there’s always some pain and discomfort after any breast cancer surgery.

However, from what you are saying, I would advise you to contact your doctor breast cancer nurse and keep contacting them until someone sees you and gets this sorted, you can’t go on in constant pain.

If necessary you can ring Macmillan on 0808 808 0000 and they might be able to push things along a bit quicker, as they have people who specialise in certain areas. Also find your nearest Macmillan centre (a list is on here) they are great and you can just pop in for coffee and chat all in confidence.

Please let us know how things go - we are all in this together.

    Take care and big hugs.xxx

  • Hi, thanks for replying. I haven’t had surgery yet either. I am having chemotherapy before surgery, my breast care nurse is off all this week so I’ll try and get in contact with someone x

  • Hi

I had my tumour removed from my right breast back in July of this year -coming up 3 months to the day. I still get a stabbing pain. It's like someone has a long hot needle and they are going in from the side all the way through and then pulling it out , changing direct and going in again. It goes as quickly as it comes.

I mentioned it to my bc nursing team and they have referred me to the consultant and for another mammogram. They have said that it could be down to still be healing as there isn't any sign of physical infection. Just this annoying stabbing pain. There is still alot of bruising and discoloration around the nipple and aeriola so hope it's that

All the best for the 4th November

  • That is exactly how mine feels! Also no sign of infection. I just haven’t had any surgery as I’m having that after chemo.

  • Could it be pressing on a nerve? I had some numbness in my left hand from my lump pressing before it was removed.  TNBC usually respond well to chemo,  so hopefully in the next few weeks it will start to feel better xxxx
