realise this seems quite trivial but I’m trying to cut out the booze. Slightly stuck for that evening tipple now!
have tried Mother root and soda which is nice but as expensive as gin!! Also I’m a bit tired of it!
peroni 0 is excellent but seems high in sugar
love to know any thing that’s hitting the spot for others!!
Hi c22 not trivial, the small pleasures in life are important! I like the zero alcohol Guinness, which was a surprise as I didn’t think it would compare with the real thing! And then of course if you’re a Guinness fan then nothing really compares to a pint poured in Ireland….. I agree re sugars in a lot of zero drinks, it’s difficult. I complicate my situation by fasting for a minimum of 13 hours overnight so evenings out see me on sparkling water which is very boring. But I value that first cup of tea in the morning more than having a nicer drink with calories in the evening! It’s all a juggle re what’s important to each of us.
Going back to non alcoholic drinks, I’m not a big fan of the fizzies as I find them a bit sweet as well. Will be interested in seeing others’ suggestions! Xx
Son did the no-alcohol ‘dry January’ and said non alcoholic wine was awful, non alcoholic beer was ok and the best was non alcoholic ‘mocktails’

I like alcohol free cider. Kopparberg do a fruit one and a pear one. Really refreshing .
Hi c22,
I’m also a big fan of the zero free Guinness and and I also like Fever Tree low cal tonic with ice - It’s almost as good as a G&T and still feels like a grown up drink. x
I haven’t drunk alcohol for two years and tried loads of alternatives during that time. Not a fan of the ciders, they are generally too sweet for me. I’ve found Lidl bottled lager is the nicest and cheap as chips. M&S mocktails especially the mojito and their AF red wine are nice (not like real wine but still a tasty drink). Nosecco for a bit of fizz. 0% gin and tonic pre-mix cans are tasty even though I don’t like real gin! The London Essence Co tonics are delicious and have a little ‘bite’ (the pink pepper one). If you’re out and about BrewDog pubs do some great AF draft beers, so good I had to double check! Will definitely be trying Mother Root! :-)
Hi BWBCancer,
I still also drink the real thing. Everything in moderation is my motto, although my halo slipped at the recent beer fest! x
Totally agree moderation is the answer! Just trying to find a week day replacement - because with honest hindsight I definitely imbibed more than my fair share!!
I'm a fan of fever tree flavoured tonics, minus the gin. I also have had really good alcohol free aperol spritz, with no alcohol Prosecco and orange monin flavouring. Hope this helps and good luck x
