Hi everyone, I was diagnosed last October, lump and 2 lymph nodes removed in December, radiotherapy in march and now 5 years letrozole, Sailed through the surgery and radiotherapy, never even considered I wouldn't beat this thing. I'm now having to re-think. The letrozole is horrible, am aching all over, stiff, fighting my hunger hour by hour. Even though the scales are steady I feel flabby and loss of definition. I managed to break my foot 7 weeks ago, that put a stop to the running and hiking I'd managed to keep doing all the way through so far. As soon as I stopped moving my breast swelled up and got tight. I assumed it was fluid gathering from inactivity but saw my GP and he's referred me straight back to breast clinic for a mammogram because there's new lumps under the scar. Think I'm just having a rant because I'm not sure I can do this again. I've been covered in psoriasis since the radiotherapy so having to be referred to skin specialists as well and I keep catching infection after infection, gum infection after fillings, urine infection, thrush etc etc. Also, is anyone else finding anti perspirant stopped working in the effected armpit? As much as I put on, still constantly wet under there. And a random green discharge that comes and goes for a day or 2 every few weeks even though they confirmed I'm post menopause. No idea what's normal side effects and what's not and don't think I make any sense to my GP, just sounds like a load of rambling to me, even when I'm the one saying it. I've taken 4 or 5 course of antibiotics over the last 6 months and now I'm scared they will stop working. Does this sound normal to other people in my position do you think?
Hi woo1973 that all sounds very tough for you, I would suspect repeated infections needing antibiotics are the cause of the thrush which in itself can give a discharge and really drag you down. I think you need a careful, listening GP to give you proper advice, maybe even a nutritionist?
Hubs had psoriasis so I know it can be upsetting, his came on as a result of extreme stress, I would wonder if your recent outbreak could be a similar result? You’ve certainly had stress!
as for antiperspirant not working in the affected armpit, I guess I’m in a similar boat but have only just finished rads to that area so I’m not sure. I’ve used Mitchum for years and find it very good - but as yet I’m not using anything but lashings of Aveeno under the affected side, it’s pretty numb too.

I changed to mitchum when my other half very kindly suggested I try something new, it seems to work for the weird new smell but not the wetness. I think maybe I don't moisturise the area enough. I have the numbness too - such a weird feeling! I'm really good with my diet and exercise (or I was till I broke my annoying foot) I think I just thought that I'd get treated and that would be that. It sounds really silly but I didn't even consider that I wouldn't just pick myself up and carry on as normal.
Thanks for listening, just keep reminding myself how lucky I am to be healing and try and keep going
Hi, I’m on Letrozole and I also found I had a smelly armpit almost straight after a shower. I found a brilliant natural deodorant by Jennifer Young. It works immediately, although it’s quite expensive with postage charge, a pea size amount does the trick. I also have a greenish discharge, which comes and goes. I have sore bones, constant back ache and low mood. I just pray the benefits of taking this drug, out way the side effects. Time will tell. Good luck.
Hi, for lymphoedema after breast cancer treatment, I follow a class on YouTube called breast Haven. It’s fun, quick and it works.
