Hello,
I have been taking tamoxifen for 2 and a half years - and recently been told that I should avoid soya ? I knew about grapefruit but not soy/ soya .
can anyone advise on what foods to avoid that have been tested to affect tamoxifen use ( not hearsay) nothing on tamoxifen info, and was not advised by cancer nurse .
thanks
Hi, I was never given any advice on avoiding any specific foods, but I heard that people with oestrogen positive breast cancer should avoid soy. I've read up on this and there is a lot of conflicting advice out there and to be fair, it's pretty confusing.
I spoke to my oncologist recently about it and she was absolutely adamant that I should avoid soy, despite some recent research suggesting it's ok. I must admit I am personally frustrated as soy is good to lower cholesterol and mine is high due to a side effect of letrozole, but I am taking her advice and moving to other plant based milk.
Best wishes as we navigate a sea of confusion.
PS what's the advice on grapefruit, I have not heard this
