Thank you
Hi Jo Jo1972 welcome to the forum. Can you possibly pick up the phone and speak to one of the Work and Welfare Advisors at Macmillan regarding your issue at work and see if they have any idea who to deal with this as this shouldnt be happening for you. Are you in a union? If so it would be worth contacting them. There’s also Acas who are employment rights specialists as well as the MacMillan employment team.
if you are based in the uk and have or have ever had cancer this is classed as you having a disability. This is a protected characteristic under uk law and can not be used as a reason to get rid of you. They have to build a very strong case to prove its not due to the cancer.
Citizens Advice bureau usually have an employment specialist- I believe a cancer diagnosis is classed as a ‘disability’ and is therefore a protect characteristic- they cannot dismiss you and if they try to push you to leave they are in the wrong and you can go to tribunal. Speak to CAB ….. it’s been a while since I worked there so may be a little rusty.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
