Lumpy boob.

Hi I had a mastectomy and tram flap reconstruction on my right side in January. They also had to remove the nipple, my stomach healed up pretty quickly but it took a while for my breast to heal. It was very firm at the start, like carrying round a brick. I kept asking when this would improve and was told it just takes time. I’m now roughly 13 weeks post op and it is slightly better but still pretty lumpy at the top. Has anyone else had a similar operation and how long did it take to soften up? Thanks Jen.

  • Hi

I can't help with your question but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

  • Hi, my lumpectomy scar took months to soften and it's still, 2 years on, quite lumpy. Sorry! Best wishes

  • Hi thanks for replying. It’s not the scar, that’s pretty smooth I’ve got a circle where they removed the nipple. It’s my actual boob which has tissue from my stomach in it. I think I’m just being impatient. Just need to stick with my lumpy boob just now.

  • Hi, I hope it improves over time, best wishes

    • Hi Jen 3 I had my op 6th December 23. It was quick n I went home that day. My boob was black blue green purple black yellow.  It took about 3 weeks to come out n disappear.  It's now June 24 n I still have pain in that side n sometimes I feel very heavy too. Have you been doing the exercises for lumphodiemia gently gently they do seem to work.  I did far to much house work ect to soon n really have to pace myself now. Xx
  • Hi Debby I saw the consultant yesterday as I had a follow up from my operation on my other breast. She said that it might just stay like that, it’s because of the tissue and muscle was used. I guess I’ll get used to it over time. I have full movement in my shoulder and do everything that I did before although I’m not back at work yet. I walk, cycle (on an exercise bike) and have been working in the garden. Don’t do any specific exercises. Thanks for your reply.
