Transport for treatment

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd ask here if anyone else has had trouble getting transport help too and from hospital for treatment .

I asked my drs surgery and it seems I don't meet the criteria... Was told to get bus, cab or ask a friend which is a bit much as treatment can be Monday to Friday for 3 weeks radiotherapy and Chemo for however long ..

It would cost me £20 a day for cabs and there's no way I can afford that,

Has anyone got any advice on how to tackle this ..I'm stressed enough without worrying how I'm gonna get there

Thank you for taking time to read this

Much love

  • Sorry to read this. This does not seem fair at all.  I would phone yout oncologist nurse and ask for help.  I always thought that transport was arranged by the hospital. I hope you manage to get transport.  If you don’t get any satisfaction, contact PALS.  Best wishes. X

  • Yes contact your breast care nurse....they were the ones who told me I would get transport....and I only had radiotherapy, they gave me a number to call for transport and I was asked initially 'is it for dialysis,  chemotherapy or radiotherapy ', that was what gave me entitlement.

    Good luck Fingers crossed
