Just returned from getting my results following lumpectomy. As I feared, they didn’t get good margins all the way round so annoyingly, I have to do this all over again. The waiting, the not knowing continues…
Hi Ruva welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear what has been happening for you. It seems to be something that can and does happen for some but I agree it must be very frustrating for you having to do this all yet again.
So sorry to hear this and we are here as hopefully you know, so please do keep in touch and let us know how you get on.
Thank you so much. Just wondering if anyone could share their experience on this. Was the the second surgery harder, easier or about the same in terms of healing time, pain, and just general management of the situation?
I had a lot of help from family which I really needed but they are all away on holiday in the new year when I go back in for surgery so just thinking ahead.
Hi Ruva , sorry you’re facing a second op. I can’t help re shared experience of this but wonder if you’d get more specific responses if you start another thread with the question in the title? Eg ‘Anyone had second op as margins not clear?’ Or similar, you can probably think of better wording! I know that I can never read all the posts on this very busy forum so tend to click on things that I think I might have something to contribute to, from the title, if that makes sense?
Good luck with it all, it’s really tough when you think one stage is over and done with, only to find it’s not. Love and hugs, HFxx
And just to add, you’re definitely not alone as quite a high proportion of ops result in margins that are not clear enough. So I’m sure there will be folk here with similar experiences to share xx
Hi there,
I had to have a second op to clear the margins too.
It was a lot easier the second time round and I recovered much more quickly.
It was very frustrating but I know it's quite a common occurrence........I also know that that doesn't make things any easier.
All the very best
Love and hugs
